Spin that Reel – Dragon Tribe Slot Review
Every once in a while a new game gets launched that deserves more attention for the simple reason that it is brilliant. This is one of these games. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Dragon Tribe. This Nolimit City slot, is a 6 reel, 4,096 ways to win game which can be played on all devices from 20 cents up to €100 per spin. With a cool dragon theme in a cartoony style, it comes with cascading reels as well as xNudge Wilds that can give multipliers up to 6x and wild reels.
Symbols include A, K, Q and J royals (made from bones) as well as 5 different cartoon style dragons. There’s also a red-haired female character – she is the most valuable symbol with 3, 4, 5 or 6 in combination giving you 0.5, 1.25, 2.5 or 3.75 times your stake respectively.
There are mystery symbols that will expand the number of ways to win up to 20,736. In the Dragon Spins bonus feature, you have a choice between 2 modes – the extreme version uses all the features and can pay out up to 27,000 x stake on each free spin but is more volatile. So it is pretty obvious this is our favourite mode.
Dragon Tribe Theme/Symbols
Dragon Tribe is a good-looking game with a distinctive design and superb animations and let’s not forget the very well fitting soundtrack. With flames and dragons flying in the background, it has a fantasy feel to it. Also we have to admit that the developers totally nailed the timing of the slot. Everything flows naturally and nothing seems to be too short or too long. We all know how important it is to have a perfect gameflow but also how hard it is to nail this.
Cascading Reels feature
You can form winning combinations by getting matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from reel 1 – when you do, the winning symbols disappear and are replaced by new ones. These cascading wins can easily result in a series of cascades resulting in impressive wins. And all of this in the base game to start with.
Nudge Wilds feature
Another feature in this game is the dragon egg wild symbol that can land on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 – this will trigger the xNudge Wild feature. The wild drops down to the bottom of the reel where each step downwards increases the multiplier up to 6x – the wild becomes a wild reel as a result. Wilds substitute for all symbols on the bar except for the bonus scatter.
xWays Mystery Symbol feature
Look out for a mystery symbol, the ‘X’ which appears on all 6 reels – when it appears, it can hold up to 3 symbols to expand that reel’s height. If you manage to expand all 6 reels fully, you’ll get more ways to win – up to a whopping 20,736 ways to win. If you combine this xNudge Wilds, it can lead to huge wins.
Dragon Spins feature
The Dragon Tribe slot comes with a Dragon Spins feature – this is played when you get 3 bonus symbols. Your reward is 10 free spins. If you get more bonus symbols, you’ll get 3 additional free spins for each one. Once in, you have the choice of 2 modes – you have the Dragon Spins mode and the Dragon Spins Extreme mode. Here’s what they offer:
Dragon Spins mode
- More frequent winning combinations
- xNudge Wild feature
- Potential payouts of 11,000 x stake on each free spin
- 95.97% RTP
Dragon Spins Extreme mode
- Less frequent winning combinations
- xNudge Wild & xWays Mystery Symbol features
- Potential payouts of 27,000 x stake on each free spin
- 96.06% RTP
Whichever mode you choose, every 3rd winning cascade will transform 1 of the 5 dragon symbols into Dragon Wilds for the rest of the feature and you’ll also be rewarded with 2 additional free spins. If you manage to turn all dragons in Dragon Wilds, this is when you know you are ready for the big wins.
For us Dragon Tribe almost feels like a breath of fresh air. Don’t get us wrong, we enjoy many of the new titles that come out but often we just play them a few times and then we go back to our ‘regular set’ of games such as Book of Dead, Jammin’ Jars, Dead or Alive(2) etc. But every once in a while we play a new slot that has everything in it to become part of our regular set. Dragon Tribe is without a doubt one of these games. Give it a try and we’re sure you will understand why.
