Spin that reel – Hanzo’s Dojo slot review

Hanzo’s Dojo is the latest slot from Yggdrasil Gaming and will be released on August 24th. This game developer has impressed us lately with some pretty nice new slots. The company has mentioned it wants to release new slots at a rate of one per month, and so far they’re doing pretty welll. The games last game just looks better than the one before and we are pretty sure we can say the same about their latest title: Hanzo’s Dojo. Although rumor has it that Yggdrasil is one of the worst performing game developers in the industry where it comes to big payouts, everything else seems to be hunky dory. The designers have really outdone themselves on this game, it just all looks beautiful in every detail.

Hanzo’s Dojo is a 5×3 video slot with 25 paylines and an additional 3×1 slot in the rooftop of the game. Yggdrasil made sure it’s playable on all devices and the stake ranges from €0.10 all the way up to €125 per spin. The slot comes with a 96.1% RTP. The game features an additional Rooftop Slot, 2 Free Spin modes, and 5 Free Spin boosters.

The game includes 8 regular symbols (4 low paying and 4 premiums) and a wild that win if three or more are lined up in sequence on a payline, beginning from the leftmost position. The most valuable – the Hanzo symbol – is worth 9,4x for 5 on a payline. The four high value symbols are all the mean-looking characters who occupy the dojo while the lower values are four nicely-designed icons representing various game related elements. The wild is a golden mask which will replace all others symbols in order to form winning combos except for the Free Spins and Hanzo Spins bonus symbols.

Bonus features

The game is packed with different features that have been integrated very nicely in the whole flow of the game.

Rooftop Slot
On top of the reel set is another, smaller, 3×1 reel set: the rooftop slot. Players can trigger additional Free Spin Boosters and modes in the rooftop slot.

  • Wild – it will expand downwards to fill up the reel below.
  • Hanzo – three in view will award three Hanzo Spins in which a 3×3 symbol is locked into reels two, three and four.
  • Free Spins – at least one in view will award the total number of free spins on the symbols with extra boosters.

For the free spins you’ll get one booster per symbol and they are:

  • Two extra free spins.
  • Paylines work both ways.
  • T2x Multiplier.
  • TWild 5th reel.
  • T3×3 symbol nudge for the best position.

Free Spins
Free spins are triggered by landing at least three Free Spins symbols anywhere in view, including the rooftop area. You’ll receive the total number of spins on those symbols plus a booster if it includes any from the rooftop. Reels, two, three and four only feature 3×3 giant symbols in this round.

Our verdict

As we already mentioned this game is packed with features, but Yggdrasil succeeded in integrating them all nicely into the game. As we already said at the beginning the game looks absolutely beautiful in design and animations and it all combines very well with a smooth gameplay. And let’s not forget the intro, music and sound effects.

In the game you really want to go for the Hanzo spins or the free spins and get lucky with some nice boosters in the rooftop. The boosters are a very nice extra feature and allow for unique setups in individual bonuses which definitely adds value to the game. This slot is medium volatile slot with a relatively low 3000x max win so if you are looking for massive wins, then this is probably not the game for you but of course it can still surprise you in a very positive way.
