Baccarat, unknown, unloved?
Baccarat has internationally a long and illustrious history and has been one of the most popular card games for hundreds of years. The game was developed in France after the Italian game Baccara was introduced in the country around 1490. In many countries Baccarat is less popular than poker, roulette and blackjack but if you want to try something different, then Baccarat is worth it, both in real casinos and online.
Baccarat can be played in three different variations:
- Punto Banco (also known as the North American Baccarat)
- Baccarat Banque
- Chemin De Fer (also known by the nickname Chemmy)
Of the three types of Punto Banco is actually entirely based on luck, and also have influence with the other two variations strategy and skills. But in a casino is most likely that you Punto Banco variation of the game encounter.
What is Baccarat?
Baccarat is a card game where two hands, the dealer and the player, are compared to see if the player wins or dealer, or if there is a tie. In baccarat cards have a value depending on their nominal value. The cards 2 through 9 are worth their face value, aces are worth one point but the 10 and all the pictures have no value.
The important thing to remember about Baccarat is that the hands are valued based on the right digit of the sum of the cards are added together. For example; if you have a hand of 2, 3 and 4 in baccarat, this would amount to a value of 9. If you had a hand of farmer, 3 and 5, this would amount to a value of 8 for the farmer is worth nothing. If you could have a hand of 8 and 6, this amounts to a hand value of 4. It would totally namely 14, but only counts the rightmost digit of the number, and thus the value 4.
This is the basic principle of the game, it follows then how the values affect what happens at the table and how they compare with the hand of the dealer.
How to Play Baccarat
The important thing to know about Baccarat is that as a player does not have to win the hand in order to win the bet. In Baccarat, bet on what the outcome of the hand will be; either the player wins, the dealer wins if it becomes equal. You can as a player then bet that the dealer wins and still hold profits, it almost sounds contradictory but this makes Baccarat also a strange duck in the bite.
The player and the dealer both receive two cards and if neither scored a ‘natural’, which is a score of 8 or 9 of their two cards, then certainly a tableau what the next stage of the game. If a player sits with his two cards between 0 and 5, he will require a third card. If the player has 6 or 7, nothing happens. With a ‘natural’, the latter is also the case.

Odds Baccarat
One of the most pleasing aspects of Baccarat is to bet on the player or the bank the house edge is quite small. The banker has a slight advantage on the player, but they also pay out less in profit (19/20 compared with doubling) compared to betting on the player. It therefore makes sense to bet in baccarat on the player or the bank. While betting on a tie is attractive with 1 to 8, the probability of a draw is a lot smaller.
Baccarat is one of the most historic and fun casino games because it is relatively easy to play and it actually requires no knowledge of the player to place a wager if no strategic element occurs, whatever in most casinos do not the case is.
